Regrettably the future is not what it used to be and we're left with the soundtrack to a promise never fulfilled: dins and buzzes, jangles and hubbubs of old space odysseys, narratives of terror and comfort and of an everlasting journey where everything was still possible and great deeds lay ahead of mankind.
